MoMac
Senior software developer for WAP
Brief description: MoMac has a number of mainly Perl-based large generic systems that support development for all kinds of mobile content and interaction. 2Organize.com
Technical consultant, senior UNIX developer
Brief description: After some experiences away from this company, I decided for personal reasons to go back and was put to work on a number of projects immediately. Direct Email, SMS Engine and several websites for a Dutch ministry, and KPN were created by me in the first couple of months. Most of these used databases containing information delivered by the customer. In 2003 I also developed an SMS-tool which is still used (now is 2007) in a partnership with a sms-related partner of 2Organize. I led a investigation project regarding a third-party content management system (Imperia) which 2organize was interested in. From March through July 2004 I developed a CRM tool for a large RvB project for Nuon (one of the main energy suppliers in Holland). Unfortunately it required constant maintenance as requirements changed daily and dataflows kept shifting; it was even launched when development was only done for one-third of the project. Fortunately, the project was closed satisfactory. Nuon had a 'bad rep' at the time, so this project needed special care and it did.
When I left I worked on several projects for Adobe -for which we did all technical maintenance of all their websites but America's- and a number of other national and international customers. I was also the backup software engineer for another large number of projects.
Languages used in this function: mainly Perl, *sh, C

PerronC
Technical consultant, prototype developer, software engineer, project manager
Brief description:Perron C is a relatively small company which develops concepts for communication processes. It works for internet companies, newspapers, mobile phone companies and television and radio broadcasting companies. It takes an idea of a customer and develops this into a multi-media communication proces with the target audience.
When I joined this company, there was little or no knowledge on technical issues. Perron C needed a person who had considerable experience with internet and other technical concepts, and who could also present these to large customers like KPN, ING, ANWB, etc. I was given this task, which led to satisfying results.

YourNews
Technical consultant & software engineer involved in upgrading the old syndication system
Brief description: YourNews was a news-syndicator.
My job was to bridge the gap between the technical department and the other departments. For this I first was involved in the Core Development team for the Syndication Engine that was being developed, for several months. When the need for software engineers became crucial to the success of the development of the new syndication engine, I was given several parts of the engine to develop, re-engineer and test.
In my seconth month, I was voted employee of the month.

Vosoft
My own, idealistic company
Brief description: Personal company, founded to aid the underpriviliged
After having so many people call on me for websites, I decided to create a small one-person company, under which I could work for those who required my help. Vosoft's purpose is to aid, assist or develop internet technologies for those people or foundations or other non-profit organisations who cannot afford this or wish to spend their money to better needs.
Vosoft has created several websites over the years, among which were dozens of personal websites for travellers, JV Den Haag (a foundation that takes underpriviliged children on a small vacation), Stichting SF Report, WatWordtDeNaam (a small website for a local political party in Valkenswaard), MyJewels (personal jewel-website of a friend), dJinX (website of a jeweler).

2Organize.com
Fifty e-commerce websites for Sun Microsystems (www.suncatalogue.com)
Brief description: Sun Microsystems is one of the leading companies in the world regarding relying hardware and software. Sun had tried before to set up an e-commerce site which did not work out well. 2Organize picked up on the project but started from scratch. A database was already at use at 2Organize but had to be rewritten totally for this project to an XML export. My part was initially consultancy as the e-commerce and website expert during negotiations.
When implementation began, I was responsible for transforming the XML data into templated webpages with different looks, inside a shopping application. Also, I was still acting as technical consultant for 2Organize.com towards Sun. The amount of time was limited even though the amount of work was doubled several times during the four months in which the websites were realised.

Libelle 2004: communicating in the future
Brief description: Libelle, the leading women's weekly magazine, turned 65 this year. Instead of a retrospective, Libelle wanted to look ahead and show what the future offered, to the top 400 managers and marketeers in the Netherlands. This project produced a magazine of the future, a website of the future and several presentations on how interaction, behaviour and the western culture will change in the coming years.
My involvement was triggered by 2Organize.com when expertise was needed on technological changes and the sociological impact of the usage of this technology. This led to an interactive internet talkshow, a prototype of in-place commercials and a realistic futuristic user interface, based on speech recognition.
The presentation was done by 2Organize.com, VNU Uitgevers -led by M. Boswinkel, at the time chief editor of Libelle- and KPN, who produced a video on the 'House of the Future'.

Graduation project 'IMU'
A user tracking tool for websites containing a highly dynamic, self-teaching page-recommendation system for website visitors
Brief description: IMU is a web tracking tool which can be used for every website there is. Its main purpose is tracking users on the website and recommending webpages to visitors of the website it is installed on. Apart from that, IMU offers very intriguing webstatistics which are session based: amount of sessions, viewing time per page(-group), surf behaviour, page efficiency and webbot detection are just a few things that can be measured using IMU. For more information you can view the sheets of one of the presentations of IMU here.
It was graded as a nine, on a scale of one to ten.

Plantijn Casparie Mediawork
All-purpose personalized chat/mail/news site for Adobe Germany
Brief description: As part of the new look of the german Adobe website, Adobe wanted a chatbox with a number of nifty gadgets like a userdatabase, internal mail, and a user-2-user chat possibility. Also they wanted a news forum system which was message-based and not chat-based.
Though the functionality of the chat was not fully envisioned, I created a web-based chat program which supported all these functions and some more. Later on it was enhanced by an intriguate client-side javascript application that updated the messages. A snapshot of the system at work can be found here. The system is still online and can be found at http://www.adobe.de/community/chat/index-stream.html
