The Alien page started out innocently enough, as a creative
endeavor Eelko de Vos undertook during a holiday break.
Like an alien being itself, his little lark appears to have bloomed
into a full-grown monster with a life of its own.
Eelko explains the beginnings of his obsession: "I've been intrigued by the Alien movie from childhood. The creatures in these movies seemed so monstrous, and at the same time quite beautiful to me. The beauty was in the way the creature was designed, how it was moving about, and the reproduction cycle. It all tickled my fantasm bone." When he later discovered the work of H.R. Giger, the artist who designed the Alien concept, Eelko was hooked.
His site includes FAQs about each of the first three Alien movies and rumors about the not-yet-created fourth, lots of photos, and sound files (AU and WAV) that may keep you awake at night. There are also links to pages on Giger and his gothic artwork.
The going gets a little tough at the page on the life cycle of the alien, which includes the stages "Facehugger," "Chestburster," and finally "Queen Alien." The Alien stories, presumably submitted by fans of the fan page, are similarly arcane. Nonetheless, the interesting layout and Eelko's infectious enthusiasm make the page a fun place to visit, if not to linger.
